US Embassy launches "Seeing Blue: An Ocean's Month Movie Series" on June 8, 2015 at Exploreum

U.S. Embassy Manila marks the importance of the ocean with the launch of Seeing Blue: an Ocean’s Month Movie Series at the Exploreum, Ground Floor, Southside Entertainment Mall of the SM Mall of Asia on June 8, 2015 (Monday) at 6 PM. U.S. Ambassador Philip S. Goldberg will deliver the opening remarks. World Wildlife Fund National Advisory Council Vice Chairman Lory Tan will be the guest speaker.

The “Seeing Blue” screening series is a free and by-invitation-only event in partnership with National Geographic Channel Philippines and features the documentary “Alien Deep: Ocean’s Fury” by Dr. Robert Ballard, one of the greatest underwater explorers. Ballard has found the Titanic, the Bismarck, the carrier Yorktown and new forms of life. In this film, Dr. Ballard searches for answers as to why the ocean seems to be getting bigger, angrier and more deadly.

Seeing Blue - Post Your Pledge on how to Save the Ocean

As part of its #1Earth environmental campaign and in support of the U.S. State Department’s efforts for ocean conservation, U.S. Embassy Manila’s “Seeing Blue” series seeks to stress to the youth the importance of taking care of marine life and coastal environments.

The embassy invited students from various coastal cities in Metro Manila such as Muntinlupa City, Navotas City, Pasay City, and Manila. They will have the opportunity to ask questions from the expert following the screening. Apart from Manila, “Seeing Blue” will also be held in Pampanga and Batangas within the month.
