Birdwatching 101 held at The Travel Club in Trinoma Mall

With the ever-changing climate situation, there are various initiatives being done by the government, private organizations, companies and non-governmental organizations, to take care of our environment, natural resources and animals. Columbia Sportswear has teamed up with the Wild Bird Club in holding a talk dubbed as Birdwatching 101, which was held at The Travel Club in Trinoma on April 19, 2012.

[To join this activity with tour at Villa Escudero on April 28, please see below.]

Guests were given an introduction to birdwatching, including tips on how to go about this fast growing ecotourism activity. There is a growing interest in birdwatching as a hobby. Wild Bird Club’s Maia Tanedo also provided more information about the birdwatching activity in the Philippines. Carmela BalcazarResort Director/birdwatcher also shared her insights on the subject discussing the birds  in Villa Escudero.

The Philippines is home to over 600 bird species – 200 of which are unique to the country. Perhaps the most prolific of bird species found in the country is the Indigo-banded Kingfisher, which can be sighted at the Villa Escudero in Laguna. Birdwatchers from around the world went to the resort to see a bird named Mariquit, an Indigo-banded Kingfisher.

Villa Escudero has been named as one of the best birdwatching sites in the country by the Department of Tourism and continues to promote this distinction internationally, with 90 bird species found in the resort alone.

If you'd like to take part of this eco-friendly activity of birdwatching with a tour, it will be held at Villa Escudero in Quezon province on April 28, 2012 (Saturday). Please contact Columbia Sportswear at (632) 567-0611 loc. 423 for more details.
