The world is preparing for the biggest environmental action to happen in simultaneous locations. In unity, various cities across the globe participating for the Earth Hour 2011 will switch off all lights for just an hour on March 26, 2011, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.
In the Philippines, where over 1,000 cities and towns took part in Earth Hour 2010, the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, with 1,512 member municipalities, will take part in Earth Hour 2011 and is encouraging all local government organizations to show their support. The League of Cities of the Philippines, a city organization with 122 member cities, is also taking part.

“It is often city governments that are the actual leaders in sustainability,” said Andy Ridley, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Earth Hour. “Cities have been the engine rooms of Earth Hour for the past 4 years, and we are inspired to see cities using Earth Hour not only as a time to celebrate, but to launch lasting environmental commitments – beyond the hour.”
